Bespoke greenery for Home NZ creates a highly memorable aesthetic that’s inspired by the client’s construction background.

For its new head office, Home NZ had a vision of weaving nature into the space. The outcome has been award-winning.

Working closely with the Home NZ, we developed a design that complements the building’s form and injects points of interest into the interior through statement greenery. The commercial greenery for this Ōtautahi Christchurch workplace has achieved a strong visual impact that's inspired by Home’s construction background.

Greenery has created an inviting ‘home’ for those who work for Home NZ.

This commercial greenery is filled with bespoke details. The first custom element is a moss wall. Three types of preserved moss are layered around timber battens, creating a key focal point in the workplace. The second sees Home’s logo – a house shape – crafted entirely of reindeer moss to bring character to the stairwell. Outside In produced a third bespoke work – a custom suspended moss panel. Inset with recessed LED lighting, it responded to the client’s need to add functional lighting above the boardroom table and spans over four metres in length. Outside In also crafted aerial planting to bring warmth to the timber ceiling panels, creating a living green canopy. Freestanding planters complement the interior decor.

The sculptural sweeping form of the moss wall offers a subtle abstract reference to the part of the South Island where Christchurch is located. The moss logo’s placement in the stairwell echoes the shape of the building’s arched ceiling. Our products are in keeping with the industrial-inspired interior and the client’s construction background. Feature planters in a textured painted finish take the look of industrial Corten steel. Our custom elements were constructed from black powder-coated aluminium, while planters are made from glass reinforced concrete.
